Of all the many movie iterations of this story, dating back nearly a century, this version is the best. And I adore old classic films, so I'm not just saying that because it's new. Superbly acted, poignantly told, great chemistry between Cooper and Gaga. I believed and felt for these characters. Really lovely.

Believe the hype! I'm trying not to get too hyperbolic due to recency bias, but I walked out of this film saying out loud that this may be one of the best movies I've ever seen. I have not been able to get it out of my head since seeing it, and I'm not sure where to even begin with a review. Bradley Cooper is transcendent, Lady Gaga is revelatory, the concert scenes are electric. The film feels raw and personal but simultaneously epic. The chemistry between Cooper and Lady Gaga is beyond description. It's a rare 2+ hour film I wish were longer. There will be a backlash because of the hype and pedigree - don't believe it. This is masterful filmmaking. The first half is as perfect a film as I've seen in ages, and the ending is shattering. This could be a modern masterpiece!
